This year was the first I had ever heard of the Teal Pumpkin Project thanks to Facebook. We have decided to do a teal pumpkin for Halloween this year and provide a non-food option that is safe for all our trick or treaters!
What is the Teal Pumpkin Project?
FARE’s Teal Pumpkin Project™ promotes safety, inclusion and respect of individuals managing food allergies. This nationwide movement offers an alternative for kids with food allergies, as well as other children for whom candy is not an option, and keeps Halloween a fun, positive experience for all! How do you help?
Homes provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters and paint a pumpkin teal to place in front of your home, along with a free printable sign from FARE, to indicate you have non-food treats available.
We had lots of fun painting our pumpkin and plan on giving out glow sticks to trick or treaters in addition to the Kit Kats I bought (and have eaten half of already). Consider participating this year! You can get the glow sticks I bought on Amazon here.

I participate in a breastfeeding support group and another mother has a child with numerous allergies. She has created a blog to offer a place of support, education and resources about food allergies. Please visit and like her page to show support! https://www.facebook.com/smilingawayfoodallergies
