I never how incredibly hard it is to part with my children’s things once they outgrow them.  I always go back to thinking about picking out that outfit or putting together that toy with excitement. Realizing that they have moved on is bittersweet.

Perhaps some of my most treasured, sentimental items from my kids are the items from when they were newborns.  Thanks to Pinterest, I got the idea to make DIY Shadow boxes with Ava and Ryan’s coming home outfits, hospital blankets, hats, bracelets and crib cards.  They were super easy to do and I hung them along side their birth announcements.

Here is what you need to make your own:

The the board at the back of the shadow box is backed with foam so all you do is attach each item to the board with a pin.  I started with the paper, then laid the blanket.  After that I did the outfit and hat and finally the bracelet and crib card.  It took me all of 30 minutes!
